Requirements and Rules

Who Can Use the Internet

To use the Internet, you must be a Wilson County Public Library cardholder in good standing (no unresolved fines or fees). Limited guest access is also available to out-of-town visitors or those temporarily living or doing business in Wilson. Identification and proof of address are required. The library also offers free wireless Internet connectivity.

How to Register for Internet Access.

Come to the circulation desk in the Main Library or to any of the five branches.   If you already have a library card, bring your library card with you.  You will fill out and sign a contract that explains acceptable use of the Internet.  (Lack of a signed contract means no access to the Internet.)   If you are between 13 and 17 years old, your parent/guardian will also be asked to sign the contract with you.  You will then have access to the Internet.  All fines and fees must be cleared from your record.

Rules for Use

  • Each Internet user is entitled to a maximum 90 minutes total use per day.
  • Users under age 12: In addition to having your parent/guardian sign your contract, you must also have your parent/guardian sitting with you while you use the Internet, or when signing the contract, the parent or guardian may designate another adult family member to supervise your Internet session. The designated adult family member must also sign the contract.
  • Users ages 13-17: Your parent must sign your contract, but he/she does not have to sit with you while you are using the Internet.
  • Printing from the Web costs $.20 per page for black-and-white printing, $1.00 per page for color printing. You are required to pay for all pages you print, whether by mistake or not.  Please ask for assistance, if needed, before printing.
  • If you violate the terms of the Internet contract you signed or otherwise abuse the privilege of Internet access, further access may be denied.
